Handcrafted embellishments

The Dera is a tie-dyed sack dress worn across generations by Swahili women in the home. The Nala begins there: same ease, same intimacy, remade through handcrochet. Worked in natural cotton by women-owned artisan groups in Kenya. Finished with Maasai metal beadwork at the neck and hem, applied in-house at the LilaBare atelier using antique metal coins and cast brass beads. Designed to layer over the Navo slip dress or worn as its own piece. Full length. Natural cotton with natural stretch across sizes.

Handwoven East African cotton, botanically dyed with healing plants. Breathable, buttery soft, designed to last. Our signature handloom is an ode to freedom, self-expression, community & craft. Made with zero electricity using all natural materials.

Air between gentle wears. Handwash in cool water when needed. Machine washable on handwash setting, lowest temperature & spin cycle. Line dry in shade. Steam iron. Do not dry clean.

from soil to seam

our special sauce

Looks like linen, drapes like silk, but is rain-fed handwoven East African cotton. Crafted entirely by hand with zero-electricity. The yarn is dyed with plants before weaving, allowing the healing properties of each colour to be innate to each thread.

zero electricity

human made

Local artisans weave the textile on hand-operated wooden looms using no electricity. Tonal variation and tactile finish are shaped by the rhythm of the loom, the dyed yarn and the hand of each maker.
