OUR VALUES
FAQ: BEHIND THE BRAND ->
WHERE ARE YOU GARMENTS MADE?
Each LilaBare piece is born in the lands of Kenya and India. Our cotton is grown by smallholder farmers in Eastern Africa, woven by hand on wooden looms in Kenya and India, and sewn by skilled tailors in Nairobi. We work closely with every artisan and workshop, ensuring each thread, cut, and stitch is infused with intention, transparency, and deep respect.
What is the story behind your dyes?
Our colours come from the earth — not a lab. From turmeric and avocado seeds to Nairobi’s red soil and tea residue, every pigment is extracted from botanicals, minerals, and food waste. Each dye process is done by hand in small batches, making every garment subtly unique and alive. These natural dyes are free of chemicals and age gracefully with time, just like the stories they carry.
How do I care for your pieces?
Your LilaBare piece is your future heirloom and should be treated as such — with love and gentleness.
Hand wash or cold machine wash with natural or mild detergent. Line dry in the shade to preserve natural dyes. Avoid bleach or dry cleaning. With the right care, your garment will soften, evolve in tone, and live with you through seasons of change.
What’s your approach to sustainability?
Sustainability in our definition means innovation, longevity & purpose. We work with rain-fed cotton, natural dyes, and post-consumer materials like pineapple waste, padlocks, and brass offcuts. We design in digital and small batches, make to order, and prioritise local production to reduce emissions and waste. Our process is rooted in regeneration: of land, craft, and community.
