Nehru collar shirt dress, long sleeve, classic cuffs, ankle length with curved side slits & detachable belt tie for a cinched fit. Adjustable fit, wear open as a light jacket. Finished with wooden and handcast brass beads.
The K.A.L.I. print is our latest textile creative developed through intergenerational exchange between botanical dye master artisan Amos Kimani, artist Betty Cheruiyot with LilaBare.
Unprocessed cotton is pleated and hand stitched to create resist points, then transformed using steel wool soaked in vinegar, sunlight and residue from Kenyan black tea. The surface develops slowly through oxidation, producing an irregular black and rust pattern that recalls aged batik, weathered earth and inherited cloth. Every length is fabricated and dyed by hand, so variations occur in each piece, making it unique to you.
Air between gentle wears. Handwash in cool water when needed. Machine washable on handwash setting, lowest temperature & spin cycle. Line dry in shade. Avoid handcast details when ironing.
